Terms of service

1. Service description

• Tactile History provides curated tactile history panels and an accompanying software stack for the panel hardware.
• Schools subscribe to the service via the tier table on /pricing. The 'Trial' tier is admin-issued and free for 30 days; the 'Classroom', 'School', and 'District' tiers are paid annual subscriptions.
• We reserve the right to add, modify, or remove features with reasonable notice.

2. License + acceptable use

• Each license key entitles the named school to use the service for the number of panels specified in the plan.
• License keys are non-transferable. Sharing a key with another school or district is grounds for immediate termination.
• You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Android application, the backend APIs, or the content packs.
• You may not use the service to violate any law or third-party right.

3. Payment + refunds

• Paid subscriptions are billed annually via Stripe. By entering your card, you authorize us to charge the annual fee on the subscription date and on each renewal date.
• Refunds: within 30 days of the initial purchase, contact billing@tactilehistory.com for a full refund. After 30 days, we prorate refunds on a monthly basis.
• Failed payments trigger the grace-period state machine (active → grace_period → suspended). See the License Reactivation section of the dashboard for details.

4. Content + intellectual property

• The historical documents in the content packs are curated from public-domain sources. Each document carries a 'verified for commercial use' rights field; the rights URI is published on every panel.
• Tactile History retains copyright in the curation, the panel design, the software, and the marketing materials.
• You retain copyright in any quiz results or educator-created content on the platform.

5. Termination

• We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these Terms, for non-payment, or for any reason with 30 days' notice.
• You may cancel at any time via the Stripe Customer Portal (under /account/billing). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• On termination, your school admin will lose access to /admin and /account; the panels will stop functioning on the next heartbeat.

6. Disclaimers + liability

• The service is provided 'as is'. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
• Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you've paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
• We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
